It was bittersweet when the folks at Gairloch demolished the on-site 383 Sorauren presentation centre last summer. While it was sad to see the award winning presentation centre close, it also marked the start of construction on the architectsAlliance-designed condominium.

We recently toured the new sales centre which has since relocated to nearby 309 Roncesvalles Avenue. Although not as large as the original, the new presentation centre is just as visually striking.

An intimate reception area with a desk and scale model greets visitors at the front, and is separated from the rest of the office by a frosted glass partition. The wood and brick-lined walls provide a warm backdrop to the open concept space, while the bright orange chairs add a bright splash of colour. The brick used on the walls is actually the same brick that will be used on the building itself and provides a modern interpretation of the existing buildings in the neighbourhood.

At the rear of the presentation centre is a fully-furnished kitchen and living room model showcasing the features and finishes at 383 Sorauren. These include beautiful engineered hardwood floors, Johnson Chou-designed kitchens with solid core veneer slab cabinetry, sleek corian countertops, and brand name European-style stainless steel appliances.

Back at the site, construction at 383 Sorauren is right on schedule for a summer 2016 completion and is presently in the excavation phase.

Sales for the 145 unit mid-rise has also been progressing well and is now over 85 per cent sold. But don’t worry, there’s still a wide selection of units available including studios, penthouse suites, and two more townhomes for sale.

Available suites start at $268,990.
