On Saturday November 15th, over 250 registrants came out to the sales centre for The Metalworks, Guelph’s new urban village. In fact, the doors opened up at 8:15 am, nearly an hour earlier than scheduled in order to accommodate the crowd and individuals who had camped out overnight to get the first pick of suites.
The project has clearly launched with a bang – by early afternoon, the phase one tower was already 50 per cent sold out. One of the reasons for the surge in sales was the price range, with units starting from the $190,000s.
Fusion Homes was somewhat taken aback by the runaway success of the event. To date, no other development has garnered as much interest as this master-planned community. After all, it’s quite the undertaking, spanning across 8-acres in historic downtown Guelph and taking part in five separate phases.
Phase one features a 10-storey tower made up of 114 suites and five penthouse units in addition to 14 townhouses. Six of those townhouses, dubbed the River Lofts, will have enviable views of the Speed River. The expected move-in date for this phase is late 2016.
The first phase will also include more than 2,500 square feet of indoor residential amenities, including a fitness centre and a stylish entertainment room that opens up to a courtyard equipped with barbeque areas. There’s also a welcoming lobby that is sure to impress visitors and residents alike and perks for animal lovers such as an on-site pet spa.
The sale centre is situated at 5 Arthur Street South, steps away from where the city was founded. The district once housed a grist mill, a distillery, and foundries. In a nod to the heritage of the site, the new sales centre was built with the use of salvaged materials from the area.
