Boxy, ODA-designed 22-22 Jackson Avenue is rising in Long Island City.
Located next to the 5 Pointz site, the 11-story, 175-unit development is being developed by the Gershon Company. Permits were filed in June 2013 and issued in September for the mixed-use building, which will have about 5,585 square feet of retail space. Amenities will include a third-floor pool, library, lounge, gym, bike storage, attended parking, private storage and roof deck.
Completion is slated for 2016. According to ODA’s official site, the cast concrete, boxy form “plays with notions of space and scale,” reflecting the industrial landscape of Long Island City. The architect tweeted these construction shots last week, so enjoy.
