It was a typically fun and family-oriented affair in The Junction on Saturday morning as a crowd gathered on the construction site to celebrate the groundbreaking of DUKE Condos.
Before the soil was officially turned, community-members and buyers mixed and mingled in the DUKE presentation centre, located across the street from the site. Once everyone had their fill of coffee, tea and croissants, the developer team brought the crowd over to the site for a photo op and a quick speech from Mazyar Mortazavi, President and CEO of TAS.
Before grabbing a shovel, Mazyar spoke about the importance of properly integrating the new development into the Junction community, the stunning architecture by acclaimed Toronto firm Quadrangle Architects and discussed the construction timeline.
Those familiar with DUKE will know it won big at this year’s BILD Awards, taking home prizes for Best Website, Best Direct Mail and Best Project Logo. TAS was also recognized for its green building initiatives, winning the Green Home Builder of the Year – High-Rise award.
Beyond knocking it out of the park with the DUKE marketing campaign and its green building efforts, TAS has done an impressive job integrating DUKE into the Junction community and fostering connections with neighbourhood residents. Earlier in the year, the developer sponsored a flea market at the future site of DUKE. TAS also employed local artisans and builders to complete the office’s design and finishes.
