Curbed Toronto announcement

Nearly one year ago, we welcomed Curbed, an American media outlet known as the “grandaddy of all real estate blogs,” to Canada. On October 2nd, the company launched Toronto and Vancouver-specific blogs that focused on real estate, design and neighbourhood news.

However, a post published Friday, September 12th on Curbed Toronto informed readers that the site will no longer be updating effective immediately. A second post directed readers to the national site, which features posts from cities across the US and international content. The Vancouver edition, meanwhile, will shutdown on Friday, September 19th.

In an email to BuzzBuzzHome, Sally Kuchar, the City Sites Editor, explained that they were very proud of the work of the founding editors of Curbed Toronto and Curbed Vancouver, but “after a year of hard work we decided that we couldn’t allocate the resources and focus to grow our presence in Canada to where we wanted it to be.”

Among their big wins: Curbed Toronto was among the first to report the sale of Honest Ed’s, a landmark Toronto discount store, to Vancouver developer Westbank Corporation. We’ll miss our real estate media cousin!
