While Minto Westside is not yet under construction, there’s plenty of action happening on site for an entirely different reason. Developer Minto has partnered with the Scadding Court Community Centre to create Farm City, a farmers’ market that will be located on the vacant lot for the next two months.
Instead of making a grocery store trip after work, Toronto residents can visit the outdoor market to pick up fresh, local produce and artisanal goods. Farm City has already set up shop and will run every Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the corner of Bathurst and Niagara. Take our word: this will be your new go-to grocery destination until October.
No matter the shopping list, Farm City is packed with vendors that sell a wide-range of products. There’s the Eudora’s Fine Foods stand for homemade Italian-inspired eats or Eli’s Body Shop that features a variety of organic health and beauty products. This is in addition to all of the Ontario grown fresh produce. The lot also houses a community garden and an outdoor art gallery with a vibrant black-and-white graffiti mural.
Minto has long been committed to developing residential projects that promote a healthy lifestyle, from installing eco-friendly features to creating sustainable designs. But as Farm City demonstrates, the developer encourages healthy habits every chance it gets, no matter the stage of the project!
Minto Westside is set to launch by October 2014. It will rise 20 storeys and is slated for occupancy in 2018.
