Glance at photos from The Academy’s VIP preview event that took place in late June and you’ll understand why the project has already sold out. Lineups curled around the new sales centre, as people waited with bated breath to purchase a suite in the 26-storey glass building.
LeMine Investments Group and Devron Developments have teamed together to bring 339 suites to the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus. More than 12,000 students are enrolled at the school, and that number is projected to grow by more than 400 students per year for the next 20 years. And get this: current on-campus housing can only accommodate 769 first-year students.
While The Academy has become a sought-after residential building due to the lack of housing options alone, there are many other elements that make the project distinct. Residents will have access to almost 20,000 square feet of amenities, including a study lounge, fully equipped fitness centre, indoor and outdoor theatre and more.
Even more appealing is the fully furnished suite option. This means purchasers can opt for a one- to three-bedroom unit that’s already equipped with a couch, coffee table, chairs, TV, living room set and complete bedroom furniture. It’s the epitome of convenience, to say the least.
Located at Morningside Avenue and Ellesmere Road, The Academy will neighbour a number of schools, parks, shopping destinations and transit stops. The City of Toronto is also investing in large Scarborough infrastructure projects to further revitalize the area.
Thanks to the success of the new residential building, both developers will give back to the community by donating $30,000 to Sick Kids Hospital on behalf of each person who attended the VIP event.
