During our whirlwind tour of Long Island City’s active construction sites, we stopped by the in-progress hotel at 40-47 22nd Street.
The 10-story hotel on the corner of 41st Avenue and 22nd Street will have 74 rooms, Brownstoner first reported in January. Permits issued May 30th call for a new 25,048-square-foot building rising 102 feet tall. Michael Kang Architect is the architect of record.
In 2008, 22 Street Sai Hotel LLC purchased the lot for $2.9 million, according to Department of Finance records. The new owner then filed permits in 2009 for the demolition of the existing warehouse and for a new 10-story, 77-room hotel.
Then in June 2012, 22 Street Sai Hotel LLC sold the property to Ratan Realty Three LLC for $4.2 million. Ratan is based at a Howard Johnson at 1300 Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey, The Real Deal reported. It’s unclear whether the new location will be part of the Howard Johnson hotel chain.
Anticipated completion is Summer 2015, according to on-site construction signage.
