Rising about 780 feet tall, the 64-story condo tower by Time Equities has 191 one- to five-bedroom apartments, with a healthy dose of duplexes. Helmut Jahn designed the rounded steel-and-shimmer building, while Thomas Juul-Hansen crafted the interiors with natural materials and subtle fixtures.
Interiors have floor-to-ceiling windows and master bathrooms with custom walnut cabinetry, marble floors, “fluted glass bath wall” and wall-to-wall mirror above floating, backlit marble vanities. Kitchens are fitted with stained walnut panels, granite slabs and appliances by Miele and Sub-Zero. Some corner residences have double-height living rooms and wraparound views.
Units in the L Series, “a collection of 50 West Street’s most remarkable penthouse, full- and half-floor residences,” arrive with additional features; the kitchens, loaded with stone slab countertops and backsplashes, have extra-spacious refrigerators and freezers, a six-burner stove and a full-height wine refrigerator. It’s easy to get lost among the development’s equally berserk amenities, so take our collective hand: The building’s Water Club has a 60-foot swimming pool and an 8′ by 8′ hot tub, both lined in mosaic glass tile; a marble-wrapped steam room and cedar-lined sauna with “two experiential showers, complete with lighting and audio.” A lifeguard will baywatch over classes for children and adults, from water aerobics to water polo.
A full floor is dedicated to a gym with floor-to-ceiling windows, maple-floored yoga and spinning studios, golf simulator and spa treatment rooms. Yet another full floor for entertainment contains a theater with stadium seating, library, lounge, game room, demo kitchen and children’s playroom with outdoor space. At 734 feet high, a landscaped observatory boasts binocular tower viewers, two barbecues, outdoor kitchen, banquet table and private dining areas. Don’t even look at the DBOX rendering below. For the work-minded, the third floor of the development is all office space, with 15 commercial condos available for purchase. Ranging in size from 280 to 830 square feet, the offices have key fob access, a dedicated office elevator lobby and a shared conference room and pantry.
