When the BuzzBuzzHome headquarters moved from Dufferin and Queen in Toronto to the city’s Entertainment District, there were more than a few sighs of relief among staff. All our complaints about Dufferin Street, that chronically congested, city-spanning, four-lane arterial road of misery, now seem justified.
Dufferin Street has landed at the top of CAA’s 2014 Worst Roads in Ontario list for the third year in a row. Altogether, the infamous street has made CAA’s list eight times.
It took the top spot on a list with plenty of Toronto content, including six other city streets (Kipling Avenue, Finch Avenue West, Bayview Avenue, Markham Road, Lawrence Avenue East and Wilson Avenue).
The 2014 campaign saw a 31 per cent increase in votes across the province, which has us wondering whether this past winter’s toll on the roads has led to worse commuting conditions.
All the roads on the top 10 list have been verified by the Ontario Road Builders’ Association. Here’s the full ranking:
