Fortunately, architect AA Studio (née Adjmi & Andreoli) is actively chronicling the six-story, 70-unit transformation of the former New York Dock Building. The building by ever-quadratic developer Est4te Four will have ground-floor commercial space, parking, storage, a gym and roof deck.
Est4te Four has a handsome concrete structure to work with — the existing ceilings are 12 to 16 feet tall and the building boasts large open windows, allowing for loft-style apartments. Here’s a glimpse of the steel window mock up for the project:
The interiors will sport kitchens by Dada Molteni, according to this AA Studio blog post detailing Aldo Andreoli and Matthew Goodwin’s trip to the factory in Milan. Photo of the prototype kitchen below:
