Every corner of the work site for Pears on the Avenue was buzzing with activity when we paid it a visit. The undertaking by Menkes Developments will one day rise 20-storeys from 170 Avenue Rd., just north of Davenport Road.
Made up of 170 units, including a number of townhouses along Pears Avenue, the construction crew is now adding about a storey a week to the condo. The lower layers of the project were a bit more challenging since the condo is sitting on a site made up of different elevations. In fact, the foundation is composed of three raft slabs and the pour was one of the largest ever undertaken by Menkes, which says a lot given that the builder is behind the Four Seasons Condos.
Enough about the technical details! Check out the pics we took of all the handywork:

Fronting Avenue Road, there will be two to three retails spaces.
Here’s an early look at the dramatic lobby off of Pears Avenue, which will have cathedral ceilings and a spiral staircase.
