German firm J Mayer H has been chosen to design a new shopping mall in Berlin that will allow “adventurous visitors” to skydive and surf indoors.
Called Volt Berlin, the building will be made up of unevenly stacked boxes, partitioned through the center by a track of glazing that will reveal the mall’s “various experiential offerings,” which include the skydiving platform and surf wave.
The Volt Berlin project will total more than 317,535 square feet and include shops, restaurants, event spaces and a hotel.
Construction is slated to begin next year.
