Brack Capital Real Estate’s citizenM Hotel New York is officially open.
Located at 218 West 50th Street, the 230-room property is the first citizenM hotel in the US. Based in Amsterdam, citizenM has outposts in Glasgow, London and Rotterdam, with plans for expansion into Asia.
The development’s interiors were designed by Concrete, with architecture by Montroy Andersen DeMarco Architects.
The central lobby has 26-foot ceiling and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with a mix of art and objects sourced from around the world. In accordance with citizenM’s artsy focus, the new hotel will host a collection of contemporary art and photography from Andy Warhol, Daido Moriyama and David LaChapelle, as well as a commissioned piece in the lobby by Julian Opie and a Jen Liu work along the facade.
The hotel will have self-check-in, a gym, customizable guest rooms with touchscreen MoodPads, furniture by Swiss brand Vitra and common workspace. There will also be a rooftop bar with panoramic city views, landscaped courtyard and 24-hour cafeteria with full service cocktail and coffee bar.
