UPDATE 4:40pm: The latest reports from CBS New York say that two people were killed and more than 50 people were injured in the explosion and collapse.

UPDATE 11:16am: CBS New York reports that FDNY says 16 people were injured, four seriously in the explosion and collapse.

Two buildings in East Harlem collapsed this morning after an explosion reportedly occurred around 9:30am.

According to The Real Deal, the buildings are located at 1644 and 1646 Park Avenue, near 116th Street. Curbed New York says 1646 Park Avenue is listed as a five story walk-up apartment building.

There are reports of paramedics on the scene tending to a number of injured people, but the total number of injuries caused by the blast and subsequent collapse is unclear.

The cause of the explosion has not been named.
