A red-brick townhouse at Williamsburg’s 483 Driggs Avenue will yield to a new five-story development.

Located between North 9th and North 10th streets, the proposed building would have five apartments spread over 6,260 square feet of residential space. Vamos Architects is the architect of record, according to the plan exam application filed today. There will be ground-floor slices of commercial (620 square feet) and community facility space (550 square feet), as well as a roof terrace.

Demolition permits have yet to be filed for the existing two-unit, two-story townhouse on the 25′ by 100′ lot. The commercial unit was occupied by Black & White Gallery; the ground level came with 11-foot ceilings, historic original pine floors and art-ideal open white space extending to a rear courtyard. The two-bedroom residence above the gallery had 9’6 ceilings, stainless-steel kitchen and parquet wood flooring that transitions to brick at the back balcony, according to the Corcoran listing.

The property sold in December 2012 for the asking price of $2.9 million, according to public records. The Department of Buildings permit lists the new owner as John Ziegler, a Principal of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, an investment banking firm and broker-dealer focused in the financial services sector.
