Richmond Hill is a hub for winter fun thanks to its abundant supply of local amenities and natural spaces. Living at SkyCity Condos ensures easy access to the season’s best activities.

Situated at Yonge Street and Highway 7, Pemberton Group’s condo community is convenient for both everyday life and indulging in outdoor hobbies and recreational activities. The opportunities aren’t limited to warmer weather either, with number of ice rinks, nature trails and ski hills close by.

Here are some of best bets for getting the most out of the winter months in Richmond Hill:

Ice time

Less than ten minutes north of SkyCity is the Elvis Stojlko Arena, named for the figure skating champion who grew up in the town. Residents will be able to strap on their skates and enjoy the indoor arena from mid-September to the start of April. Nervous on ice? The rink offers skating lessons as well.

Hitting the slopes

Situated just south of the condo community, the Uplands Ski Centre comes with slopes of varying difficulty, whether you’re looking for a vertical drop of some 100′ feet or even an average of 1000′ feet in length. The centre offers programs for both children and adults and has even branched out into new territory with an introduction to racing program.

Snowshoeing and Nature Walks

The Richmond Hill area is home to a wealth of green space where it’s easy to forget the city. For residents who enjoy snowshoeing through the woods or simply going on nature walks there are plenty of options close by. The Huntington Trail, which runs west from Leslie Street crosses Little German Mills Creek to Huntington Park, is the habitat of white-tailed deer, rabbits, raccoons and ring-necked pheasants. There’s also the Rouge River headwaters walk and the Duke of Richmond East Trail.

Winter warm-up

After enjoying winter activities, it’s always a good idea to indulge in a hot drink. Aroma Cafe on Bathurst is known for its coffee but it also features a decadent hot chocolate drink: steamed milk is poured over a handful of milk chocolate pralines and topped with froth and cocoa powder. For those who prefer something a little spicy, the hot Ontario apple cider is served with a cinnamon stick and dried apple ring.

Residents of SkyCity Condos will get the best out of winter while at home in their suites as well thanks to the individually, seasonally controlled heating system. The condo community is home to expansive, open-concept suites that let in plenty of natural light.

For those who wish to stay active indoors, the master-planned community also features a whole host of on-site amenities such as an exercise room and yoga and pilates studio, sun deck theatre  room, party room and so much more.

Suites start from the low $300,000s.
