As part of their series of “Love Where You Live” events, The Daniels Corporation hosted a special design-inspired function for HighPark Condominiums last night, a distinct new community that neighbours Toronto’s largest urban park.
To give purchasers a taste of their future neighbourhood, the Fabulous by Design event was held at Grenadier Cafe, a charming eatery nestled in High Park.
Crowds of interested buyers attended the event to mingle with residents and hear from both the Daniels team and the project’s design team.
Don Schmitt, a principal at Diamond + Schmitt Architects, took the stage to discuss the architectural elements of the building. He compared his thought process to that of famous urban thinker Jane Jacobs, noting the importance of animating a street to “not only make it safe, but to make it a walkable and friendly neighbourhood.”
The smartly-designed condo and townhouse community will be comprised of a 14-storey glass residential building that connects to two seven-storey wings made of brick. There will also be a selection of townhouses on the ground level along with a retail space that faces Bloor Street.
Attendees also heard from the Tomas Pearce design team to get the scoop on the interior work of the project.
Melandro Quilatan, a principal partner at Tomas Pearce, spoke about their use of organic materials — like reclaimed timber that will be used to divide the main lounge from the elevator lobby.
He noted that small details like these speak to the wellness-oriented amenities that will be incorporated into the building, such as the rock climbing wall, gardening plots, outdoor terraces and fitness studio.
Tom Dutton, Senior Vice President of The Daniels Corporation, wrapped up the event by answering curious buyers’ questions.
He also made a big new incentive announcement: purchasers who refer someone will receive $5,000 upon the closing of both units.
HighPark Condos will house 407 units in total and is currently over 55 per cent sold.
Prices for available suites start at $199,900 and units range in size from 320 to 1,645 square feet.
