Brake for it: a parking lot at 677 11th Avenue is going to become a four-story auto showroom.

North Bergen, NJ-based BRAM Auto Group is building a 30,413-square-foot car showcase at the corner of West 49th Street. The architect of record for the 70-foot-tall structure is SLCE, according to the plan exam application filed today.

In late 2012, the auto group purchased the property for $16.617 million, according to public records.

The previous owner of the lot was Rockrose Development Corp., which plunked down $10.048 million for it in 2007, the New York Observer reported. Rockrose filed demolition permits in 2008 for the 32,800-square-foot commercial building at the site, which is about 10 blocks north of the firm’s twin rental towers at 505 West 37th Street and 455 West 37th Street. For some reason, a new rental at 677 11th Avenue never happened, and now here we are, writing about auto showrooms instead of residential construction.
