With temperatures dipping, everyone’s mind is on keeping warm and staying indoors. Residents of ParkCity Condos will be able to turn the heat up on their homes in a way that’s cost-effective, eco-friendly and safe from the outside elements.
The Tobyn Park Homes project will use geothermal energy for heating and cooling, meaning a series of underground pipes will tap into the energy generated and stored in the Earth. There’s no combustion at the heat pump, meaning the system doesn’t emit any carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide or other greenhouse gases.
Plus geothermal systems deliver four to five units of energy for every single unit of electrical energy used, saving both money and natural resources. As far as costs are concerned, they’re all upfront. Once the system is installed, geothermal pipes last the lifetime of the building and you’ll no longer have to worry about the fluctuating rates on your natural gas bill.
For winter lovers, residents who prefer spend their time outside can turn their suite’s heat pumps to an unoccupied mode, allowing you to save electricity when you’re away for an extended period of time. The pumps are also quiet and full controllable via a thermostat in each suite.
Since the systems are installed inside, they’re not subject to harsh weather, be it extreme temperatures, ice, snow, rain or debris.
Though the geothermal system is truly unique for a Burlington condo, ParkCity is home to a wealth of other green features as well. Water-saving features will be installed in each of the suites as well as energy smart appliances.
As far as location is concerned, residents will have easy access to Go Trains and buses and there will be an Autoshare program for condo owners as well.
Surrounded by a 2-acre private park, the four-storey condo at Walkers Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington will connect residents with the outdoors. The rooftop terrace will likewise offer extensive treetop views of Halton.
