Back in October, we reported that new development was slated for two adjoining sites at 774-784 Grand Street and 213 Maujer Street in East Williamsburg.

Turns out that the two lots will sprout one big mixed-use development with 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and 69 rental apartments totaling 63,000 square feet. Jeff Kurtz of Kamson and Dean Marchi of Grand Street bought the adjoining sites, formerly Liberty Department Stores, for $14.2 million, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The two existing buildings on the combined lot measure 12,500 square feet total and are part of a 60,000-square-foot buildable site between Humboldt Street and Bushwick Avenue. Demolition permits were filed in November.

The Meshberg Group is designing the mixed-use development; Gene Kaufman is the architect of record. According to a lovely holiday postcard from the Meshberg Group, the project will be completed this year:
