Permits are live for 98 Avenue A, developer Ben Shaoul’s latest slice of East Village pie.

The new eight-story building by Shaoul’s Magnum Real Estate Group will have 43 apartments, according to the plan exam application filed December 26th. Located between East 6th and East 7th streets, the project will be designed by Issac and Stern Architects. The 37,042-square-foot development will have more than 7,000 square feet of commercial space.

The developer bought the property in May for $15.5 million, EV Grieve reported. The project will replace the theater-turned-grocery East Village Farms, which closed in 2012.

A demolition permit was filed in June, and EV Grieve posted photos of the (de)construction process.

The building will have storage, bike storage, a laundry room and a rooftop recreation area.
