A ghostly white tree has been spotted hovering above Lady Bird Lake in the heart of Austin. While its appearance is a little spooky, it thankfully falls short of being a menacing spirit.
Titled THIRST, the tree is part of a large scale temporary art installation in the Texas capital meant to encourage discussion about water scarcity. THIRST memorializes over 300 million trees that died in the Texas drought of 2011 and aims to foster discussion on conservation and preservation.
Created by Austin-based art collective, Women & Their Work, the installation will remain on display until December 20, 2013.
