The Forest model home

The Forest by National Homes debuted three model homes on Friday, and while the clay brick and stone exteriors speak to the local history of Bradford, the town in which it’s located, it was the decorated interior that left us pining for more.

The model homes were delicately furnished by Pottery Barn and west elm, making it the first time in Canada that both retail stores have partnered with a new home builder. Local councillors, the design team and other community members came out to walk through the homes and celebrate the occasion.

From brightly-lit bedrooms with modern ensuites to spacious walk-in closets, we snapped a picture of almost every room we passed (we couldn’t help ourselves!). Here are some of the suite designs that caught our eye:

The large storage space in this brightly-coloured playroom will encourage kids to stay organized.

The bright artwork and warm accents in the model kitchen wake up the room.

This modern suite, with its grey and white tones, is both elegant and homey.

We love how the bathroom coordinates with the suite (above) almost as much as we love the oval bathtub.

For a living room space, this is as grand as it gets. We’re fans of the soft gold accents and elegant chandelier.

This spacious kitchen offers plenty of room to put your cooking skills to good use. However, you may be required to host Thanksgiving.

No, this isn’t a bedroom — welcome to your personal walk-in closet. Need we say more?

This cozy space is ideal for unwinding, or curling up with tea during the colder months.

For those eager to reside in one of these well-decorated houses, National Homes is offering an appealing alternative (cue the sighs of relief). To enhance your decor skills, you’ll get a complimentary design consultation at a Pottery Barn or west elm location, as well as interior decorating seminars and a one-time 10 per cent discount at both furnishing stores.

Just as the development’s name suggests, most of the 54 detached homes in the first release boast scenic forest views. You’ll also be walking distance from multiple schools, a modern community centre and local farmers’ market.

“Somebody said to me that [The Forest] is a natural extension of this neighbourhood, and I don’t believe that,” says Bradford Councillor Gary Lamb. “With the buffer zone there, National will be its own neighbourhood.”

The four to five bedroom homes were designed by the acclaimed Cassidy & Co. Architectural Technologist, and come in 15 different styles.

The houses range in size from 2,440 to 3,400 square feet and prices start from the high $400,000s.
