Williamsburg’s got a fever, and the only prescription is more Gene Kaufman.
A new mixed-use building designed by Kaufman is planned for 56 North 9th Street, at the corner of Kent Avenue.
The seven-story, 53-unit development will have ground-floor retail, enclosed parking and a roof terrace, according to a plan exam application filed September 10th. Apartments will start on the third floor.
The developer is Ronit Realty LLC, which has owned the site since 1998, according to public records. Demolition permits were filed April 30th for the one-story warehouse at the lot.
Previous residential Gene Kaufman works in the hood include The Lucent at 170 North 11th Street, The Decora at 165 North 10th Street and The Residences at The Williamsburg at 135 North 11th Street.
