605 West 161stA new residential building is heading for Washington Heights at 607 West 161st Street.

Located between Broadway and Ft. Washington Avenue, the 10-story, 62-unit development will have 46,116 square feet of residential space, according to a plan exam application filed August 28th.

The project, designed by Jeffrey Cole Architects, will have ground-floor duplex apartments with private yards, as well as bike storage, a gym and outdoor recreation space.

Demolition permits were filed July 31st for the previous building on the property, a church. The 7,669-square-foot lot sold for $3 million in February, according to the listing by Ariel Property Advisors.

Developer Samuel Sutton and Jeffrey Cole Architects are also collaborating on an eight-story, 41-unit apartment building in Harlem. The 2272 Frederick Douglass Boulevard project will be completed in 2014, according to the architect’s site, which included this rendering:
