Gene Kaufman is laying his architectural stamp on East Harlem, with two new residential buildings planned for vacant lots at East 131st and 132nd streets.
Both projects, located between Park and Madison avenues, are being developed by 1916 Partners.
51 East 131st Street will sprout a six-story, 12-unit building, according to a plan exam application filed August 27th. It will have 8,406 square feet of residential space.
The larger project at 48 East 132nd Street will be seven stories and 19 units, with 12,953 square feet of residential space.
1916 Partners owns and manages Yellow Brick Loft, a hub of offices, creative work lofts and commercial spaces in Harlem. The two adjacent commercial buildings are located at 1916 Park Avenue and 68 East 131st Street, down the block from the proposed residential developments.
