Located between 8th and 9th avenues, the three-story post office is slated for a two-story addition, according to a plan exam application filed August 16th. The 44 apartments would start on the third floor.
The project, designed by Architecture Outfit, is estimated to cost $5 million. The developer is OasesRE. The “Radio City Lofts” conversion will be condominiums, according to the firm’s site.
Judging from the Schedule A filing, the post office will remain in business on the lower two floors — perhaps a mixed blessing, considering the Yelp reviews. One of our favorite disgruntled comments: “Doesn’t get worse than this place. Maybe in Haiti or Tijuana or something… The employees are slower than sloths. I moved a month and a half ago and still haven’t received a SINGLe piece of forwarded mail. Btw I moved DOWN THE STREET.”
