A new project in the west-end’s thriving Junction neighbourhood, DUKE Condos is so integrated into the area that it even takes its name from its home intersection at Dundas Street West (DU) and Keele Street (KE).
An articulated brick facade with a geometric pattern of terraces and cantilevered living spaces means that the seven-storey structure won’t overwhelm the neighbourhood. Six floors of residences will sit above the ground-floor, animated by commercial space and amenities such as an in-house gym.
The south-side of the building will feature extended, sun-filled terraces while the laneway will house live-work lofts. The double-height spaces will accommodate artists or anyone in need of studio space.
At the peak of the building, the penthouse suites feature two-storey ‘through units’ with windows on both the north and south sides allowing for natural air-flow and ventilation. The upper floors also feature wrap-around terraces with panoramic views of the city.
But the top of DUKE Condos isn’t just about light-filled rooms and luxury. TAS typically goes above and beyond LEED standards and this project will take green-living principals to heart with a green roof, in-suite energy recovery ventilators (ERV) and terraces lined with harvest planters for home gardening.
Aside from environmental sustainability, the project also embraces the social aspects of sustainable building by hiring Junction-area locals to design, build and furnish the local sales office.
“The Junction is a locally-driven, passionate group of families, artists and designers, business owners and innovators. We are excited to be a part of it,” said Mazyar Mortazavi, President and CEO of TAS.
Community-minded at its core, DUKE Condos aims to maintain partnerships with the surrounding community. Early registration is currently available.
Suites range in size from 450 to over 1,600 square feet. Prices start in the low $200,000s.
