Glad you could join us for part two of the BuzzBuzzHome road trip to Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka (read part one here!).

Last week we told you all about the resort’s rich history that spans three centuries. We also showed off some photos of the natural beauty that surrounds the resort and the housing communities currently being built by Skyline, Deerhurst’s owner since 2011.

We’ll get to more photos from our tour soon, but let’s jump ahead to the leisure time we enjoyed following the tour.

Once we were dropped off back at the main building, we grabbed lunch at Maple, a casual spot to grab lunch and dinner that boasts a not-so-casual (more like breathtaking) view of the golf course and Peninsula Lake.

The menu did not leave us wanting for choice, with its wide selection of sandwiches, wraps, burgers and salads. Highly recommended.

After lunch it was time to hit the beach with our Splash Passes in hand. While we could have lounged on the beach chairs for ages, we decided to try out the inflatables in the Splash Zone. Now, kids tend to be the majority in the Splash Zone, but adults don’t need to hesitate in joining the fun.

Cooled off? Check! On to dinner at the upscale Eclipse, where foodies can still indulge their sense even while they’re hours away from the city. Some dishes are innovative and thought provoking, others are classics that are executed with precision. Everything is delicious and some of the ingredients are even foraged from the forests surrounding the resort. It doesn’t get any fresher than that!

The night ends on a high note (actually many high notes and a few low notes too) as we take in the Decades show, a musical institution at Deerhurst that sees a troupe of seasoned performers cover pop music classics from the 1950’s to the present day.

We only have time for brunch and the famous Hummer tour through the wooded areas around the resort (also highly recommended) before the time comes to leave Deerhurst.

It’s a lot of fun for families, couples and, really, folks of all ages. It’s well worth considering a trip up this summer — though we’re told fall is beautiful too. You might love it so much that you’d consider purchasing a home on its hallowed grounds. If you do decide Deerhurst is exactly your speed, you’ll find these photos of the work being done on Deerhurst Golf Cottages — one of two communities currently in the works at Deerhurst — most interesting…
