36 West 38th Street Gird yourself, Midtown West, because a Gene Kaufman-designed hotel is headed for 36 West 38th Street.

The developer of the 19-story, 114-unit building between Fifth and Sixth avenues is Gemini Real Estate Advisors, according to this plan exam application filed July 24th. The 43,342-square-foot hotel will have a bar/lounge and exercise room. The site was formerly home to Spring Dumpling House.

The project is right by the Archer New York boutique hotel planned for 45 West 38th Street. The 21-story, 180-room Archer hotel by Lodgeworks will open in spring 2014 and will charge about $350 per night, the New York Post reported.
