Townwood Homes Earlier this month, Townwood Homes announced that it would be including two new safety protocols in its Vaughan project, Mackenzie Ridge Terraces.

The builder will include garage heat detectors and fire sprinklers as a standard in all of the new homes, a first in Ontario.

It’s all about keeping residents safer, providing early detection if a fire starts in the garage and containing the fires effectively throughout the home with the sprinkler system.

“As a City that is committed to improving the quality of life for everyone, I am proud that Vaughan will be the first municipality in Ontario where these important safety initiatives will be implemented,” said Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “I offer my congratulations to Townwood Homes on the leadership role it is taking to keep families safe in their homes. By working together with Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service, this builder is taking progressive steps to reduce the instances of deadly home fires.”

The Townwood Homes initiative was also complimented by Vaughan’s Acting Fire Chief Larry Bentley and Kathy Bardswick, president and CEO of the insurance firm, The Co-operators.

The garage heat detectors and sprinkler systems will be installed in all 136 executive townhomes and six semi-detached homes at Mackenzie Ridge Terraces.
