Daniels Paintbox The winners of the 2013 Pug Awards, The People’s Choice Awards for Architecture, were announced on June 26th at the Pug Awards closing ceremony at The Shops of Summerhill in Toronto.

The 9th annual Pug Awards invited Torontonians to vote for the best and worst new buildings from a selection of 43 Residential and Commercial/Institutional nominees. Voting took place between April 30th and May 31st.

There was some fierce competition, but the people of Toronto voted Freed Developments500 Wellington West as the Best Residential Building of 2013. The project was designed by Core Architects.

Toronto Police Service’s 11 Division, was voted the Best Commercial/Institutional Building of 2013.

11 Division also received the 2013 Paul Oberman Award for Adaptive Reuse and Heritage Restoration.

Runner ups included Freed Developments650 King West, designed by Core Architects, and Toronto Police Services, 14 Division, designed by Stantec Architecture.
