45 Great Jones Street Got wood? Former lumber store 45 Great Jones Street is sprouting a new eight-story building in NoHo.

We saw a permit filed June 10th for a six-unit, mixed-use building designed by Richard Metsky of Beyer Blinder Belle.

In July 2012, the developer Lauto Group got the go-ahead from the Landmarks Preservation Commission to enlarge the existing building, partially convert the space to residential units and upgrade the facade, Curbed reported. Now, it looks like the current three-story structure is going down; a permit was filed May 21st to demolish the property, but keep the front facade as “per LPC.”

The landmarked Romanesque Revival building dates back to 1893 and was the home of Great Jones Lumber Corp. from 1934 to 2008, the New York Times reported.
