To remedy this texting-while-pedestrian-failing problem, prank collective Improv Everywhere worked with Buzzfeed to bring a fake “seeing-eye person” program to the streets of New York.
Like their (legitimate) pooch counterparts, these orange-vested guides use leashes to help preoccupied pedestrians navigate the sidewalks.
About 60 Improv Everywhere participants split into two groups: half were “seeing-eye people” and the other half were text-walkers. The pranksters claimed to be part of a Department of Transportation pilot program.
For the second phase of the project, seeing-eye people offered their services to unsuspecting New Yorkers. Check out the videos below:
