TF Cornerstone is planning to build a 45-story apartment tower on 606 West 57th Street.
The New York developer has applied to build a 1,189-unit mixed-use building with 1.2 million square feet of space, The New York Observer reported. The plans call for 42,000 square feet of commercial space and an underground parking garage with 550 spots. A fifth of the apartments, or 238 units, would be affordable housing.
The site, located between Eleventh and Twelfth Avenues, was previously slated for a 44-story, 700-unit rental by AvalonBay, which shelved the project in 2011.
TF Cornerstone inked a 99-year lease for the property last May, according to the Observer. The properties are currently zoned for manufacturing, so the developer will have to undergo a rezoning process leading up to a City Council vote.
