101 West 87, the “fastest-selling building on the Upper West Side,” has just six available units left.
The 62-unit condo project by Bazbaz Development launched sales early in January as a result of crazy-high demand, and it looks like the classic red brick facade’s siren song is working on buyers. The three-bedroom homes up for grabs start at $2.6 million, and the four-bedroom home is asking $4.5 million. There’s also a 1,169-square-foot two-bedroom asking $1.725 million.
Amenities include a full-time doorman, courtyard garden, garden lounge, sky terrace, fitness center, children’s playroom and bicycle storage. Check the floorplans here. Because time’s a-wasting, here are six fast facts about 101 West 87, one for each of the soon-to-be-snagged units:
1.) So on-trend for spring: the building is only a block from Central Park, we have to talk about the Courtyard Garden. The space features “a border of mature Conical Hornbeam trees framing a green lawn accented by stone and ivy-clad walls.” That is some Secret Garden, idyllic-childhood realness.
2.) “I’m not a model, the camera just went off”: the 101 West 87 sales office already got buzz in the neighborhood for its arty appearance; many of the inquiries are from nearby residences thinking the office is an art gallery. Just look at this shot from the 101 West 87 Facebook page:
3.) Quality pampering time: The second bathroom in some units includes a Kohler Tea for Two deep soaking bathtub and customized polished chrome Watermark fittings. A “Tea for Two” bathtub! That sounds wildly whimsical and romantic, or at least reminiscent of the heartfelt chats in HBO’s Girls.
4.) Social butterflyness: Speaking of Girls, Shoshanna would totally live here. And it’s been clinically proven that she’s the best person on the show.
5.) “It’s not called the wheel, it’s called the carousel”: Also, if Don Draper lived here, he wouldn’t be such a jerk. Look, we just want him to be happy and eat rum French toast with Sally in that white-oak-cabinetry kitchen with snow-white quartz countertops.
6.) The biggest winner: Bazbaz Development took the original 95-unit rental building, added 40,000 square feet to the property and slimmed the number of units of 62. Which translates to cleverly designed, efficient and family-sized apartments with excellent lighting, great closet space, oversized windows, marble baths, cutting-board-edge kitchens and in-unit washers and dryers, all wrapped in a historically inspired facade accented in bronze and crowned with a sculptural cornice.
