Looks like rental project 544 Union Avenue is gradually rising in Williamsburg.

The new building at the old Beach Russ factory site near North 9th Street will be six stories and 70 feet tall, with 92 units, according to permits filed in January. Earlier this week, aptsandlofts.com CEO David Maundrell tweeted a shot from the penthouse at 544 Union Avenue:

Long Island-based developer Heatherwood Communities bought the site for $13.5 million in 2010, The Real Deal reported. The original developer, led by Leslie Westreich of the Tryad Group, had acquired the site in 2006 and had planned a six-story, 120,000-square-foot condominium designed by Gene Kaufman.
