CHAZ.Yorkville Crane Close Up The five-year old in us always gets super excited to see any kind of action at a construction site that involves massive machines performing heavy-duty tasks. Yesterday, we were lucky enough to witness a crane coming together at the work site of Chaz.Yorkville in downtown Toronto.

Part of Charles Street was blocked off as the crew assembled the crane mid-sky. Undertaken by 45 Charles Ltd. and Project Manager Edenshaw Homes, the 47-storey tower will have a number of ambitious architectural features. A two-storey cantilevered box on the thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh levels will be framed in white concrete and illuminated at night for all the world to see. Closer to the ground, Chaz will feature a five-storey limestone-clad podium with a series of recessed windows.

But the work has to start somewhere. A look at some scenes from the construction site:
