There’s few things that complete a development quite like an intriguing work of public art. That’s why we were excited to hear about Jacqueline Metz and Nancy Chew’s “The Shed” piece, slated for a site at Intracorp‘s Silver Condos development in Burnaby.
As you can probably glean from the image to the left, the piece was inspired by a deer’s antlers.
“We often think about landscape and what was there before,” Metz told Burnaby NOW. “So we were thinking about the landscape of Burnaby and what the natural environment was, and we went through photos in the archives, and we came across photos of deer.”
“We’re kind of fascinated by the shape of antlers – they’re elegant, and they’re elemental – so we chose to use that,” she said.
Of course, artwork isn’t the only exciting thing happening at Silver Condos.
At 38-storeys tall, you know the views from Silver’s tower are going to be mighty impressive, especially when enjoyed from the homes’ spacious cantilevered balconies. Other desirable features in both the tower and street-level townhomes include high-end appliances, composite stone kitchen countertops and Control4 Smart Home system, which enables customized electronic and home automation functionality from the convenience of your smartphone or tablet.
Located just steps from the Metrotown Skytrain station in the pedestrian and transit-oriented Burnaby neighbourhood, homes at Silver Condos won’t last forever. Go check out the sales centre at 6039 McKay Avenue in Burnaby, open every day except Fridays between 12pm and 5pm.
