The future is bright for Vancouver’s Cambie Corridor, according to the Vancouver Sun.
“[In addition to six mid-rise and highrise tower initiatives that have already received approval] eight projects are being considered for development along the corridor, with the door wide open to many more as the city prepares to take advantage of the $2-billion rapid-transit line tunnelled 14 metres beneath the pavement,” reads the October 20th article.
Indeed the Canada Line is ready to serve as the seed that grows into many more transit-oriented developments in the future.
“…all points along the Canada Line are now in the developers’ sights,” writes Sun journalist Darah Hansen.
And it’s not just the convenient transit system that makes the long stretch of land between 16th Ave and the Fraser River so attractive to builders and potential residents. The Cambie Corridor is also home to countless shops, restaurants, parks, schools and incredible views, which is what makes projects like Mosaic’s Elizabeth especially attractive.
“The city’s vision calls for “sustainable urbanism” – that is, a controlled mix of mid-rise and high-density towers,” the Vancouver Sun article continues. “The plans show a neighbourhood alive with people, kids and dogs, surrounded by all the urban comforts, from separated bike lanes and smooth, wide sidewalks to cool coffee houses, a movie theatre, office towers, grocery stores and daycares.”
Meanwhile, the area is already home to Queen Elizabeth Park – one of Vancouver’s largest green spaces – a huge shopping centre in Oakridge Mall and Langara College, a top-rated post-secondary institution.
