When a developer is choosing a site for a future project, the amount of transit servicing the area often plays big role in that decision. And in some cases, it’s the most important factor, which is when the concept of a transit-oriented development comes into play. (Two fine examples: Coquitlam’s Grand Central and Erlton Road in Calgary.)

So when you see more and more developments go up in your community, it’s a good bet an increase in transit activity has something to do with it.

For an idea of what that transit activity looks like, take a gander at these videos demonstrating a 24-hour period of weekday transit (4am to 4am) in six Canadian cities.

Note: Each clip was created from General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) data made available by each region’s transit authority and posted to YouTube by Sumus Technology Limited.
