When we got wind of this story, our bee hearts started to beat a little quicker. The Pacific National Exhibition Beehive Playhouse is about to get a new home.

According to an article in The Vancouver Sun, The Beehive – one of seven quirky playhouses at this year’s PNE – will be sold to a corporate donor who will then give it to a B.C. organization. The money from the playhouse will go toward affordable housing for BC families.

The playhouses have been built through collaborations between architects, builders and some of the province’s top forestry companies. They range from the Beehive to cube-like mazes and elaborate pirate ships.

“They’re flights of fancy, and I think that’s what’s made them so lovely, and so popular. We’ve got people here spending three, four hours enjoying them,” said Laura Balance, PNE spokesperson.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing a beehive get a new home.
