Rumours have been circulating for months about the fate of the Sears building in Vancouver, and we finally have confirmation: Nordstrom, the iconic US retailers, will open a 230,000 square foot store in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre in spring 2015.
According to an article in The Vancouver Sun, the Vancouver store will be one of four Nordstroms to come to Canada. The other four locations will be in Toronto, Ottawa and Calgary and some will open as early as 2014.
However, Vancouver’s location holds a special title: with three levels, it will be the largest of the four flagship stores.
“It’s exciting to finally have this opportunity to better serve our Canadian customers closer to home and we can’t wait to open our doors,” said Erik Nordstrom, president of stores for Nordstrom Inc. He went on to note that “While we’re fortunate to have many loyal Canadian customers who’ve shopped with us over the years, we recognize we’re new here and that we have to earn our customers’ business.”
