The Helmsley Park Lane Hotel on Central Park South is converting its upper floors to residential units, according to Department of Buildings permits.

Floors 18 through 44 at the Midtown luxury hotel on 36 Central Park South will become housing, while the existing hotel rooms on floors 4 through 17 will be renovated.

The conversion and renovation will be designed by Goldstein Hill & West Architects, at an estimated cost of $55.9 million. The firm has previously worked on condos at The Laurel on 400 E 67th St., The Aldyn at 60 Riverside Blvd and The Rushmore at 80 Riverside Blvd.

An executive park view suite with one king bed, available on the 25th through 46th floors, currently runs about $885 per night. The Helmsley Suite on the 46th floor is a two-bedroom penthouse with a library, private dining room, parlor overlooking Central Park, executive study and a master bedroom suite with a room-size walk-in closet and dressing area with two full bathrooms.
