calgary There’s good news for affordable housing in Calgary.

The city is about to have more housing options thanks to a $10.7 million joint investment grant by the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta.

According to a press release from Daily Commercial News, Lions Village, the new 90 unit affordable housing complex in Calgary, has been created to serve low-income seniors in the city.

The Honourable Diane Ablonczy says that “Through Economic Action Plan 2012, our Government is taking concrete action to create jobs, growth and long-term prosperity. ”

She goes on to argue that “funding projects like Lions Village will not only improve the overall housing conditions for seniors in Calgary, but also help stimulate the local economy and create jobs.”

According to the article, the Government of Canada and The Government of Alberta will invest more than $2 billion in housing this year.
