Yesterday marked a new chapter of construction at Alterra‘s Post House development on George Street, near Richmond and Jarvis. The crane was brought in and erected at the site of the soon-to-be 21 storey project.

If you’ve never witnessed a crane go up, it’s quite spectacular. Luckily, the fine folks at Alterra sent over some photos of the huge piece of machinery being assembled. Have a look below!

As you would expect, hoisting the pieces of the crane up into the site is no small task.

While the pieces of the crane may be very large, the precision required to assemble the machine is incredible.

The second piece traveling down into the site. Those workers standing on the first piece of the crane must have nerves of steel.

One of the final pieces. The workers standing beside it gives you a sense of how huge the crane is.

Going up…

The final product. Now it’s time to get down to some serious work on Post House.
