Only a day after the New York Post reported that the Prime Minister of Qatar was going to spend almost $100 million to purchase the awe-inspiring penthouse at One57, Gary Barnett, the president of Extell Development, put those rumours to rest.
In a Wall Street Journal article, Mr. Barnett said the story was false but added that Extell would be very happy to have the Prime Minister in the building.
Known for having a large entourage that includes 2 wives and an armed security detail, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani has had his offers rejected by several co-op boards in the city.
“We feel perfectly capable of dealing with high service requirements without impinging on any other resident,” Mr. Barnett told the Wall Street Journal.
Maybe the Sheik will decide One57 is right for him after all…
