The price for the two-story, 10,923 square foot unit is a record breaker for the city. And considering One57‘s location across from Carnegie Hall, there’s no doubt that this is one of the best developments under construction in the city right now.
According to the New York Post, Sheik Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani also has his eye on a cluster of four full floor condos in the 90 story tower. If he purchased these units along with the penthouse, he would be spending approximately $250 million at One57.
Is the Sheik showing off? Not really. So far co-op boards in the city have rejected his offers, likely because of his large entourage (2 wives, 15 children) and his armed security detail. To top it all off, he has diplomatic immunity, so if he’s not paying common charges, the board will have limited recourse.
You may recall the illustrious penthouse earning the title of New York’s most expensive condo ever sold back in May. Stay tuned for more on this huge sale!
