The Gold Nugget awards sound like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but they are actually a prestigious award ceremony at an annual international homebuilder conference held in San Francisco.

In its 49th year, the Gold Nugget Awards are open to builders, developers, architects and land planners in the United States and all international countries. There is a total of 59 categories, and this year Adera took home six Gold Nugget awards, including the top prize in the Multi-Family Housing Project – over 50 du/acre category.

Ultima is a luxury apartment community, and it is Adera‘s final home project in the Pacific Spirit collection at UBC.

In their statement, the Gold Nugget Award judges said that “[Ultima] manages to be highly animated and stately at the same time. The dark, rich materials of the body provide the perfect backdrop for the punch of the redwood accents and the persimmon trim. Architectural references abound, from Wright to Reston, yet the community embodies an emerging Northwest nomenclature. The highly contextual exterior encloses super-chic and ultra-urban interiors. It’s like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Obviously, the folks at Adera are thrilled by the recognition. Norm Couttie, president of Adera said that, “To be recognized with six award of merits is phenomenal at this high level of competition, but to win a grand award at international building awards is thrilling.”
